Thank you for
considering us for your child’s oral health
care.
First
Visit
A child’s first visit to the
dentist should be no later than the age of
12 months old. Making proper decisions
regarding oral health requires education.
The purpose of the infant visit is to equip
parents with information in order to
optimize their child’s health. Some of the
topics we will discuss with you are: growth
and development, nutrition, oral hygiene,
appropriate fluoride use, trauma prevention
as well as proper bottle and sippy cup
usage.
However, depending on the age
of your child there are a few things that
you can do as a parent to aid in creating a
pleasant first visit.
-
There are children’s
books that discuss what happens during a
routine visit to the dentist. Reading
such a book to your child will help
give them an idea of what to expect.
-
Children tend to
internalize their parents’ anxieties
regarding visits to the dentist.
Refrain from saying things to your child
such as, “The doctor is going to give
you a needle.”
-
The less fuss and
pressure made over the dental visit, the
better!
Parents and Caregivers of Adult Special
Needs Patients
If you are a parent or
primary caregiver of an adult child with
developmental disabilities please bring your
power of attorney form with you for your
first visit. Please visit the
Special Needs
Patients section of our website for more
information.
Regular Checkups
It is extremely important
your child continues to come in for regular
check ups, so the doctor can monitor
eruption patterns, growth and development,
as well as help provide education and
guidance for parents. Your child should
come in for a regular check up at least
every 6 months.
Fluoride Analysis of
Water Supply
The majority of the New
Jersey’s public water supply is
non-fluoridated. Each county makes the
decision as to whether or not their water
supply will be fluoridated. The State of
New Jersey’s Department of Environmental
Protection publishes the
levels of
fluoride per county. However, we would
be happy to measure the level of fluoride in
your home’s drinking water if you so choose.
We would be happy to provide you with this
service at no cost to you. Simply bring in a
small sample of your tap water at your
child's next visit.
Please print and fill out our
new patient forms and bring them with you on
your first visit. Click on the
